Heading to Hilton Head

November 24, 2009

My wife and I are setting out for Hilton Head in the morning!

This is very exciting for us because we have never been on a vacation.  We had our honeymoon when we tied the knot, but that is the extent of our vacationing.  Everytime we had a free weekend we would travel to Michigan to visit family from wherever we may have been living at the time! (crazy to think that in our 4 1/2 years of marriage we have lived in 3 different states)

Either way, we are looking forward to the trip and I wanted to let all 10 of my readers that I will not be posting anything 😦

We have made a vow, we are not taking a computer nor are we going to have our cell phones!  Crazy I know, but I think it is just what we need to reconnect with God as a family and individually!

I love how Jesus speaks to me.  When I write a blog posting I am ALWAYS speaking to myself.  No surprise that I need to strengthen my communication with God.

The question I have been asking myself is, “What?”

  • What should I be praying about–any stressors?
  • What is God directing me towards–His guidance?
  • What don’t I see in my life (because I am sure there is something) that should be given to God–hidden plank?
  • What am I bringing to God, that if He were to answer, all would see–A miracle?

I Want God in My Corner!

October 17, 2009

How massive is God?  Do you believe that God can move mountains?  Part the sea?  Walk on water?

God is BIG/HUGE/BEASTLY/ANY OTHER COOL WORD but we don’t speak to God as if He is able to actually do anything about our situations in life.

Most of us go throughout our day and then we realize in bed that we never took the time to talk with God…So what do we do?  We fall asleep praying!  We are telling God that we don’t need His help with our problems, that we are capable of handling whatever situation we are currently dealing with.

God cares about our problems/situations more than we could ever imagine.

Andy Stanley said (this is not a quote but the gist of the idea) that if we need 2-3 mins to come up with a prayer request, then we don’t have a prayer life (or one that matters!).

We continue to spend hours each day stressing out about things that God wants to take from us.  What is yours?  Take that to God in prayer and watch God perform miracles.

(Also: I got my military stuff out of the closet, put it on and took the picture for this posting! Enjoy!)

“How can you have charisma?  Be more concerned about making others feel good about themselves than you are making them feel good about you.”—Dan Reiland (Vice President of Leadership Development, INJOY)

Charisma is one of those attributes that most people believe is mystical, almost undefinable.  Is charisma a characteristic that people are born with?  Most people would say yes, however, John C. Maxwell thinks differently.  Charisma, according to Maxwell, is the ability to draw people to you.  And like other character traits, Maxwell believes it can be developed.

Here are Maxwell’s 4 starting points to developing Charisma:

  1. Love Life—People enjoy leaders who enjoy life
  2. Put a “10” on Every Person’s Head—Expect the best from them
  3. Give People Hope
  4. Share Yourself—Share wisdom and resources

There is much more to developing charisma and John C. Maxwell is a great resource for it.

Marriage Vows…

June 29, 2009

Everyone has heard that South Carolina’s Governor, Mark Sanford, has committed adultery.  I thought that Ed Young had a great posting about the issue, and also had some good advice I hope all you men follow.  Hit this link and check it out.
